Candle Care
Here are a few things you can do to help extend the life of your candle.
The first time you light your candle, it is important to make sure you keep it lit until the whole top surface is melted to liquid. This will help it burn slower and more even for the rest of its life.
Every other time you light it, try and keep it burning for a minimum of 45 minutes and a maximum of 3 hours.
Keep your wick trimmed to 5-7mm and if it splits at the top, try to cut that section off. This helps control the flame so as not to burn your candle too fast. No need to invest in a wick trimmer, nail clippers will work perfectly.
If your candle starts to smoke, or the flame gets too big, put it out immediately. This will mean that the candle is not burning properly and the flame is out of control. Let it cool, trim the wick, then relight afterwards.
If the inside of the jar begins to turn black, put out the candle, wait for it to cool, then wipe with a cloth before trimming and relighting.
If you ever see signs of tunnelling, where the edges are not burning and you are getting a big hole in the middle around the wick, put the candle out, let the liquid cool and then relight to get an even burn.
We use soy wax for our candles as it burns cleanly, is sustainable and does no harm to you or the atmosphere. It burns slowly, holds the scent for a long time and will result in a candle that smells great until the very end of its life. If you follow the tips above, you will get the maximum burn time from your candle. Hope they help!
